"Obey, how come you're not at your adoptive home?" I asked in my natal language.
"It's a long story. My adoptive parents couldn't raise me, so I was sent back here." he explained. We were sitting under a tree with all the other children. They wanted me to talk in German for a while, and even asked me how was Germany, my new home, and everything I've seen.
"Where is your new taki, Daehnnah? I only saw your brother with Massani Laimm." one of the girls said. I laughed.
"He isn't my new brother. He is my Tatto." I said. ('Tatto' means dad in dromanian)
Suddenly, Sarinne said,
"Daehnnah, do you want to see Taki again?"
I blinked twice.
"Taki? Is she here?" I asked
"No, but we're allowed to visit our families once in a while. Do you want to see her?"
I nodded.
"Ok! Let's go." Sarinne said as she stood up and went to a fence.
"Shouldn't Daehnnah tell her Tatto where she's going first?" Roscoe asked
"No! We'll come back soon." she assured us.
After getting away from the orphanage, we walked down a dirt road.I went by Roscoe's side. It had been a while since I was with him!
"How has everything gone?" I asked him, noticing that he was very serious and quiet.
"Fine." he answered simply.
I was serious. Something was obviously wrong. I tried to remember all his problems. His violent dad. His alcoholic mother. His prostitute sister. The drug problems he had when I left two months ago.
"Roscoe, tell me something. And I want sincerity. Have you left the marihuana?" I asked cautiously. He shook his head.
"Why not?"
"I need it."
"You don't! You didn't need it back when we were 10."
"That was years ago!"
"Roscoe didn't need it. You're not Roscoe. You're somebody else.I miss Roscoe." I said softly, not looking at him, keeping my eyes down the dirt road as we walked.
He didn't said a thing.
We got to that old, known log cabin. Orchids hng from the ceiling, and in the porch slept an old dog.
We got near, and the dog started barking.
"Shh! Naly! Shhh! It's a surprise!" whispered Sarinne. The door opened.
"Naly! What's wrong, girl?" Taki asked, but then looked up. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
